Ketozit-Z soap is used to control dandruff. Ketozit-Z soap may help to relieve the flaking, scaling, and itching associated with dandruff. Ketozit-Z soap Contains Ketoconazole which is an azole antifungal that works by preventing the growth of fungus.

Ketozit-Z soap is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (tinea versicolor), a fungal infection that causes a lightening or darkening of the skin of the neck, chest, arms, or legs.

How does Ketozit-Z soap work?

Ketozit-Z soap contains ketoconazole and ZPTO, Ketoconazole is a synthetic broad-spectrum antifungal agent that specifically kills the fungus by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, an important component of the fungal cell membrane that is not found in animal cells.  Ketoconazole in Ketozit-Z soap weakens the fungal cell membrane, causing the cell contents to leak out which kills the fungus, preventing the fungus from spreading and relieving symptoms like itching and scaling caused by the infection.

Ketozit-Z also contains zinc pyrithione a chemical with fungistatic properties that inhibits fungal growth; also antiseborrheic properties that prevent overproduction of sebum (produced by the sebaceous glands of the hair follicles).  Ketoconazole and zinc pyrithione in Ketozit-Z Shampoo, work together to treat conditions of the scalp that are thought to be associated with fungal infection.
